Job Title: Zone Manager

Department: Circulation Operations

Purpose/Scope: The Home Delivery Zone Manager is a fulltime (overtime exempt) position reporting to the Circulation Operations Manager. This position exercises supervision of up to 3 District Advisors and 4 Assistants, with the capacity to hire, train, review, discipline and terminate personnel.

Objective: To manage and Supervise District Advisors and Assistants in the proper contracting and introduction of new routes to both Single Copy and Home Delivery Independent Contractors, while maintaining overall customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of The Record and all other alternate publications that are delivered in their designated area.

• Maintain staff scheduling to provide optimum coverage during peak times.


• Provide procedures to ensure the proper introduction of routes to all Independent Contractors as to ensure consistent delivery.

• Review and analyze operational performance in the areas of customer satisfaction, circulation retention and circulation sales that relate to their designated area.



• Review all locations with an emphasis on new locations and relocation of current assets (racks).

• Ensure the proper delivery procedures by coordinating distribution at all designated drop sites.

• Originate and lead new programs that allow the department to achieve operational objectives.

Assist in any other duties as assigned by the Circulation Operations Manager

Requirements

• Must hold a valid CA drivers license and current insurance.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• A proven track record in dealing with employees and contractors preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of computers and software used in distribution services are necessary.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• The physical ability to climb stairs when delivering newspapers, bend over, fold newspapers and lift 50 lbs is required.
• Candidates must be able to work early morning hours and weekends when necessary.
• Sales and customer service experience necessary.
