Reader Rewards Cards

Postby yur_moma on Wed Jun 09, 2010 3:40 pm

Is anyone out there doing a Reader Rewards Card?

If so, are you doing it in-house or using an outside vendor?

Also, has it impacted your core advertisers? Meaning, are they less willing to advertise in the paper, or has it affected advertising at all?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks for any help.

Contact Debbie Keenan at the Keenan Group. 1-800-229-0922. I did a reader rewards card with them and they had a pretty impressive outline of ideas etc to setting up and doing.

I did one in-house. It's simple to do and not very expensive. Advertising and circulation split the businesses called on to populate the card. We allowed the businesses on the card at no charge other than their discount that was on the card. The card is active for one year and in fact is coming up for renewal in August and we're already setting it up to do it again. We did window decals, including here at the paper and use it for many things that we do ~ promos, events, service perks, etc. The cards were inexpensive at only $0.19 each and are credit card grade PVC. So far, so good, with the entire program.

We're launching this program in August. We will be "selling" the spots on the cards during July and in August will begin offering it as a premium for new home delivery starts. I'm using Keenan Group as well. I'll let you know how it goes.

We receive offers from a RonDino Promotions, Inc out of Pittsburgh who has developed a web site for subscribers to access 'at least 10 local offers with a host of national offers' for $99 a month up to 10,000 accounts.

The offer states there is no up front or set up costs,

Has anyone had any dealings with this firm?

This is the company we've decided to go with for our rewards cards. I've just started the relationship, but so far they've been fine. I called around and asked and everyone i talked to had good things to say.

I agree with Doug, if you have the time you can certainly do it in house. I did and made it profitable by selling the spots. This generated over $XXXX of revenue for the Circ dept not Advertising. In the final analysis, clients, customers and circulation won. I designed the program to recycle very six months. Anyone wanting how to info, just contact.
