The Carolina Region of McClatchy Newspapers -- seeks a person as Consumer Sales Manager for The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette Newspapers. This includes but is not limited to growing each newspaper's home delivery subscriptions, digital subscriptions, Sunday Select, NIE, TMC, single copy, digital web traffic etc. This position will also have overall responsibility for designing and executing a series of sales and marketing campaigns directed at growing the total subscriber bases. Position reports to the Director of Audience Development.
Functions - include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for the development and performance of sales at the newspapers, including print & digital sales and marketing programs. Opt-in and registration programs, online digital engagement programs, designed to grow total subscriber account (TSA).
Design and implement strategic sales and marketing plans that deliver the needed volume to support the newspaper's core print product.
Responsible for seeking out resources for subscription growth.
Analyze weekly and period end audience volumes to develop strategic plans for volume increases.
Supervisory responsibilities include serving in a key leadership role, having responsibility for the home delivery and single copy audience development team.
Carry out supervisory including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a prior work history that demonstrates strong successful leadership ability and solid understanding of complexities of newspaper circulation, sales, distribution and marketing.
